healthier school lunchAs summer reaches its final days, talks of the new school year have already started. With your kids gearing up for another year full of friends, fun, and learning (of course), you might be wondering about the more important details. Things like supplies, teachers, and overall cost might be at the forefront of your mind, but have you stopped to think how you can pack a healthier school lunch?
Although many schools around the country provide your children with decent meals at lunchtime, there’s no reason why you can’t help your children stay healthy with a lunch from home. Take a look at some of the many ways you can help to pack a healthier school lunch:

Balance

A lot of parents struggle with a healthy balance when packing a school lunch. While it might be easy to pack your children’s lunch with a solo sandwich, try to include items like fruit, vegetables, and protein.

Make it fun

As mentioned above, it’s important to make sure your kids are getting a little bit of everything from the major food groups, however that doesn’t mean you can’t make it fun! You can easily combine the necessitites with snacks like “Ants on a Log” which combines celery, peanut butter, and raisins.

Variety

Everyone needs a little variety when it comes to mealtime — especially your kids. Instead of packing the same old peanut butter and jelly sandwich, try to spice things up with a creative salad wrap or maybe switch up the snacks. You can keep your kids excited about their school lunch just by mixing it up every now and then!
