Providing Gentle, Expert Care in Pediatric Dentistry

Ensuring your child’s optimal oral health requires selecting the right pediatric dentist who can provide specialized care customized to their unique requirements. Unlike many family dentists who typically start treating children at around five or six years old, we understand that early intervention can be crucial in minimizing potential dental issues.

Early Dental Care

Teething starts around 6–12 months and may last until age 3. Soothe sore gums with a clean finger, cold spoon, or damp cloth. Teething rings help, but avoid sugary biscuits.

Sedation dentistry

Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during treatment, often for lengthy procedures or restless patients. Options include nitrous oxide, oral sedatives, IV sedation, and general anesthesia.

Sleep Apnea

ADHD diagnoses have risen in recent years, but studies show many cases are actually linked to sleep-related breathing disorders like sleep apnea.

Dr. Megan Effner

Dr. Megan Effner obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She went on to get her doctorate degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Effner was self-confidence at a young age from the appearance of her teeth which led her to the orthodontist. Receiving orthodontic treatment was life-changing for her and she was fascinated at a young age at how some metal hardware in your mouth could move teeth through bone. Her treatment gave her the daily self-confidence I needed as a young adult which led her to seek a future in orthodontics!

Dr. Effner believes there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a patient’s face the day you take their braces off. Watching patients grow in confidence as their teeth become straighter is why she loves practicing orthodontics. Dr. Effner is looking forward to meeting all the families in the Phoenix land area. She also looks forward to providing excellent orthodontic care in and personal and comfortable environment.

Outside of the office, Dr. Effner loves spending time with family, friends, and her black labrador retriever named Booker. She loves to ski, travel, attend concerts, watch sporting events, and go on hikes with Booker.
