So it’s upon us.. Pretty soon, we won’t be able to leave anything plastic inside our cars anymore. While no one can predict the weather, we can be pretty sure it’s gonna be another scorching summer. Luckily, there are plenty of great places to go around the Valley to help you tolerate the heat and have a great time. Here are some ideas to get you and the kids out of the house while staying cool this summer.
Big Surf
Did you know that America’s first wave pool was designed and built right here in the Valley? Opened in 1969, Big Surf waterpark in Tempe is home to the Waikiki Beach Wave pool, which has hosted several surfing events throughout the years. It is ranked as 3rd largest according to volume, holding 2.5 million gallons of water. Big surf is also home to several more water rides and attractions for all ages. Octane Raceway
Splashing around is fun, of course, but if your kids are interested in something else, check out Octane Raceway at their new location in Scottsdale. Octane Raceway is a large indoor/outdoor kart racing venue, boasting a ⅓ mile track that accommodates 12 karts at a time. Every skill level is welcome, and the outdoor portion of the track is covered and misted for climate control.

For more indoor fun, check out Flipside, which is bowling at an all new level. Located in Gilbert and comprised of 28 lanes with high-tech audio visual equipment, it’s bowling for the 21st century. Every lane has plush seating and huge projector screens.
